Russian translator of tafsir Airat Vahitov has been arrested in Turkey as allegedly participant of an explosion at the airport in Istanbul.
According to Turkish sources Airat Vahitov was captured on July 5 and charged as member of terroristic group responsible for an explosion.
For past few years Airat Vahirov resided in Anatolia, Turkey. As reported to IslamNews by Tatar’s Diaspora in resort city of Anatolia, Airat Vahitov was against terroristic organization ISIS and was involved in translation of Islamic literature such as 4 volumes of commentary of the Kur’an into Russian language.
Notice: Airat Vahitov received his adduction in madresse (religious school)” Yoldis” in Naberegnie Chelni, Tatarstan and become an imam of the same city in 1997. In 1999 he traveled to Chechnya and was under suspicious of involvement as a participant of illegal rebel armed forces. For three month he was under investigation, but by the end of December of 1999 he has disappeared. Vahitov crossed the border to Afghanistan and was arrested by American armed forces and sent to Guantanamo prison. In 2004 he was transferred back to Russia and cut loose. In 2005 he was detained again for two month after that he left the country upon release.
